Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy, by Hanna Levinson, PhD

Featured in the Fall/Winter 2006 Issue is An Interview with Hanna Levenson, PhD by myself and Psychotherapy.net’s Editor-in-Chief, Randall Wyatt, PhD. Dr. Levenson discusses Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy, integration of approaches to match the therapist’s style, the strengths and limitations of cognitive-behavioral therapy, how to use  self-disclosure in psychotherapy, and more. She is one of those rare well-rounded researchers, teachers and clinicians: she keeps up with empirical findings and clinical trends, and presents them in meaningful and useful way to therapists in the trenches.

Also in this issue, two articles that are personal and informative:

The Therapist Mourns his Mother’s Death: Being with Clients while Heartbroken by Bob Livingstone, LCSW. Livingstone poignantly addresses a challenge we all face at one or more times during our career: how to help our clients while we are in the grip of our own grief. In an extended case example, he shows how he painstakingly and judiciously uses his own struggle to connect with his client, and further his client’s growth, while not ignoring or hiding his own grief.

The second article, In Search of Self: My Therapy with Rogers, Satir, Bugental, Polster, Yalom, & Maslow by Deb Hammond, MA takes the reader through a progression of imaginary therapies with her “dream team” of master clinicians. She does a splendid job of capturing the essence of these respective therapists, and we hope you find this piece illuminating and entertaining.

In case you haven ’t noticed, we’ve entirely redesigned our website. We think the new format will make it much easier for you to get around and see all our resources for therapists: articles, interviews with the masters, DVDs, as well as our new Products and Services section. Also, for the first time we’re offering lower priced Videos so therapists in private practice can take advantage of these unique learning tools for self-study and CE credit. Thanks as always for stopping by.

Cheers,
